• The Tonga Governance Strengthening Programme aims to draw together three interrelated governance initiatives to avoid duplication and strengthen synergies amongst the three components: * Support to Parliament. * Support to civil society organizations (CSOs). * Support to the Tonga Electoral Commission.

  • The Pacific is one of the most disaster-prone regions in the world. The most prevalent are cyclones, which account for 76% of reported disasters, followed by earthquakes, droughts and floods (World Bank 2006).

  • Parliaments play a fundamental role in establishing peace and stability, protecting human rights, overseeing national governance institutions and processes, and ensuring national compliance with international obligations.

  • The Sustainable Land Management (SLM) project was implemented in 14 Pacific countries – Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Republic of Marshall Islands (RMI), Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.

  • The Markets for Change - Fiji, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu Project

    The Markets for Change project is a six-year, multi-country initiative that aims to ensure marketplaces in rural and urban areas of Fiji, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu are safe, inclusive and non-discriminatory, promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment.
