SDG 16 Webinar Series

November 7, 2021

The UN Development Programme (UNDP) Pacific Office in Fiji is launching its brand new #PacUNDPGovernance #SDG16 Webinar Series!

Starting on 8 November 2021, and running for the next five weeks, UNDP colleagues and partners are pleased to offer an online series of learning events to discuss core aspects of democratic governance in the Pacific region with 14 Pacific island countries.

The #UNDPPOEffectiveGovernance initiative promotes knowledge-sharing on the latest developments and reflections on democratic governance.

Among other topics, the webinars will discuss the impacts of the COVID-19 crisis on governance structures and mechanisms in Pacific Islands Countries. They will also share reflections on meaningful ways to engage young people, women, marginalized groups in programming, policy development and interventions for a more inclusive and sustainable development in the Pacific.

The webinars are targeting members and staff of legislatures, representatives from political parties and political party regulatory bodies, academia, civil society organizations, electoral management bodies, as well as governments and regional organizations.

Each webinar will be moderated by one or more leading practitioners at the regional or global level. The events will be highly interactive, discussions and questions will be encouraged. Prior to the webinars, participants will receive a summary note, comprising an overview of the topic and a list of key questions to be addressed. After the webinars, participants will also receive a Briefing Note/Publication on each topic.

The hosting of the webinar series and the development of the Briefing Notes/Publications is supported by the Governments of New Zealand, Japan and Australia, as well as the European Union.
